At African Hoopoe Tours we constantly strive to improve our service and it is our sincere hope that through this newsletter we will be able to keep our valued industry partners informed about our latest offerings, provide snippets of industry news and views as well as providing a platform through which we can network.

As a young but dynamic touring company specializing in charter services and tours, we are fortunate to have enjoyed consistent growth over the past few years Encouraged by this we recently decided to upgrade our Corporate Identity with the intention of taking the African Hoopoe brand to the next level. Apart from our new look corporate stationery and brochures we have also recently launched our dynamic new website which is designed to provide optimal viewing and ease of navigation across a wide range of devices, such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets etc, providing our customers with quick and easy access to our services. We are confident that this upgrade will serve to strengthen our brand awareness in what is a highly competitive market.

As many of you are aware African Hoopoe Tours specializes in FIT and small groups up to 15 pax. Our fleet comprises of a luxury sedan as well as a 7 seater Mercedes Vito and two 15 seater Mercedes Sprinters, with plans to purchase an additional vehicle currently underway. We have enjoyed a very busy season thus far, with our Garden Route package and Namibia Tours clearly firm favourites.

Two particular highlight for us however, were being offered the opportunity to operate a large incentive tour for a well known international electronics firm and also a professional Birders Tour from the U.S.A. which required 2 X 44 seater coaches as well as 15 sprinters in convoy. We are proud to report that both tours went off without a hitch, despite the logistical challenges. It is hugely gratifying to meet or exceed our client’s expectations in these situations and be able to justify the faith shown in our team.

About the Author

In 1996, Marius du Plessis made a career change and started working at a medium sized tour company in, Cape Town. He qualified as a tour guide and was soon on his way to becoming a top guide. A year later he joined a big tour operator specializing in day tours and charters. It had always been Marius’ dream to run his own business and in 2007 he purchased his first touring vehicle, a Mercedes Vito, while still guiding full time. Renting his vehicle to the movie industry he realised the potential, so in 2010 he went on his own, and African Hoopoe Tours and Charters was born. With the 2010 FIFA World Cup being hosted in Cape Town, timing could not have been better. From these humble beginnings African Hoopoe Tours have grown from strength to strength.
